So what does Miss NY USA, Miss FL USA and Miss NH USA have in common? His name is Justin Popovics and his company is Built 2 Win.

As DJ Rooster’s “Shake It” booms in the background, a tall brunette wearing a cherry red halter swimsuit emerges from the hallway in the home of pageant fitness trainer Justin Popovics. Standing in high-heeled sandals in the middle of his apartment, slightly nervous with his review of her physique, she submits to his instructions to stand forward, turning to the side, then facing away from him, all while he furiously scribbles notes in pencil on a yellow legal pad.

Popovics slightly bobs his head, flashes a smile and quips “Go Miss North Carolina!” She too joins in, shimmying her torso, becoming slowly more at ease.

Simultaneously bursting into laughter, he then comments “You ARE Miss North Carolina already! Believe it because I already see you as the winner for 2006. That’s why you’re here, right? To be the best?”

Miss Nevada USA 2005 Shivonn Geeb thanks Justin for all his help after the 2006 state pageant where she crowned her successor.

At putting his client at ease, Justin suggests “if you can’t have fun with your trainer in his living room in a swimsuit no matter what shape you’re in, how are you going to sell the fact that you’re the fittest and fiercest one up there at your pageant in front of all those people?”

The proceeding is typical of contestants who have traveled to Gotham City for their assessment and consultation with Built 2 Win, the pageant fitness company Popovics created in 2003. Those who submit photos for evaluation during a 2-hour long telephone consultation have the same tenor without the living room.

Justin believes that all of his past experiences, education, and interest in pageants have been building blocks to his current profession. “I couldn’t be more thrilled with what I’ve done.”
