Miss Washington 2005 (MAO)

The new Miss Washington 2005 is Tina Mares, 24 of Shoreline. Her local title is Miss Sno-Isle. This was her first time competing for the title. She played the Piano for her talent. Her platform is "Expanding Health Insurance for kids." She attends the Seattle University School of Law. Tina also received a preliminary swimsuit award, along with the overall Interview award and the community service award. She was crowned by Allison Porter, Miss Washington 2004.

First runner up went to Miss Burien, Amelia Gilbert. She is an opera singer, and newcomer to the event. Second runner up went to Elisa Horner, 23, Miss Seattle. She performed a Lyrical dance for talent. She won a preliminary swimsuit award. She is a newcomer to Washington, but competed in California. She placed 1st runner up a year ago there, and 3rd in '03. Third runner up went to Elizabeth Lamb-Ferro, 20, Miss Spokane. She is a newcomer to the event. Her talent was piano (prelim talent). And the fourth runner up went to Valarie Bachaus, Miss Puget Sound. She is another newcomer, and performed the piano for talent (prelim talent).

The top 10 consisted of Miss Whatcom County, Alex Duchemin. A newcomer, that presented a dramatic monologue for her talent. She was awarded the People's Choice winner. Alainna Fielding, 19, Miss Tri-Cities. She is a newcomer and vocalist. Miss Pierce County, Kelly Gibbons. She performed an Irish Step Dance for talent. She was 1st runner up a year ago, and was top 10 in 2001. Atiya Palmer, Miss Evergreen. She is a vocalist, and return from 2003. And Stephanie Rios, Miss Moses Lake. A newcomer and vocalist. Stephanie received the Leadership of Tomorrow award.

Other awards given were the Academic award to Kayla Nauman, Miss Pacific Coast. Non finalist in interview went to Lisa Wheeler, Miss Gray's Harbor; Non finalist in talent went to Valarie Brogden, Miss Auburn; and Miss Congeniality went to Janna Murray, Miss Poulsbo.
