Miss Hawaii USA 2006 and Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2005

On May 20, twenty-four girls vied for the coveted titles of Miss Hawaii USA and Miss Hawaii Teen USA. An almost sold out audience at the Sheraton Waikiki witnessed the crowning of two new queens. Contestants competed in Interview, Swimsuit and Evening Gown. The top 5 contestants were announce and given two questions to answer on stage.

It was an emotional evening for the new Miss Hawaii USA 2006 Radasha Ho‘ohuli who previously competed for Miss Hawaii (MAO) in 3rd R/U ‘01, 4th R/U ‘02, 3rd R/U ‘03, and ’04. She also represented Hawaii in the 2001 Miss World Pageant. She is a 1997 Kamehameha graduate and currently attends Hawaii Pacific University majoring in Speech Communications with a minor in Pre-Medicine. She hopes to one day become an optometrist. She will represent Hawaii in the 2006 Miss USA pageant. Radasha is congratulated inthe photo by formers Miss Hawaii USA's Alicia Jones and Justine Michioka.

1st Runner up was Sonya Mendoza, who also won the Interview, People’s Choice and Popularity Awards. 2nd Runner up was Amber Stone (1st R/U Miss Hawaii MAO‘04), who also won Swimsuit and Evening Gown. 3rd Runner up was Julie Takeguchi (ret. ‘05) and 4th Runner up and photogenic winner was Kellie Peterson (Miss Hawaii MAO contestant ’01, ’03 and ’04).

The new Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2005 is Melissa Benz, who also won the Evening Gown award. She was top 5 in ’03 and 1st runner up in ’04. She is currently attending Hawaii Baptist Academy. In August she will represent Hawaii in the 2005 Miss Teen USA pageant in Palm Springs.

The 1st runner up and swimsuit winner was Sage Clary (Miss Hawaii Teen Intl. ’03). 2nd Runner up was Brittany Hamocon (4th R/U ’04, Ret. ’03), who also won the Interview and Photogenic Award. 3rd runner up was Jennifer Lam, who also won Academic Achievement. 4th runner up was Alexix Sunga.

The pageant is directed and managed by 2Couture. The pageant hostesses were Cameo Decosta (Miss HI Teen USA ’92) and her mother Angel.
