Miss Tulare County crownedFebruary 26, 2008 After a night of interviews, evening gowns and a talent competition, only one woman can wear the crown of Miss Tulare County. That honor went to Summer Loftis, 22, of Tulare Saturday night after competing with seven other women in the 2008 Miss Tulare County Scholarship Pageant at the Visalia Fox Theatre. Loftis, a child-development specialist who works with autistic children, will receive a $3,000 scholarship from the Miss Tulare County Scholarship Pageant and will compete in the Miss California Pageant in June in Fresno, said Trina Rettig, executive director of the Miss Tulare County Scholarship Pageant. Loftis and contestant Sara Risvold, 18, of Springville tied for the $100 Kugler Top Interview Award. The eight contestants participated in evening wear, talents, answering questions and physical fitness and swimsuit competitions. Loftis performed a lyrical dance, which had a jazz and ballet combination, to country singer LeAnn Rimes' "I Need You."
