I was a latch-key kid who had no idea about the importance of good nutrition and being fit. My parents had demanding jobs; therefore, I was on my own quite a bit. My mother used to say that “the remote control, can opener, and microwave were all of Kim’s best friends as a child.” I was lucky in the fact that I was petite and didn’t put on a lot of weight, but I was certainly “nutritionally challenged.”
