The New Jersey National Teenager state preliminary to the America's National Teenager pageant earned top honors as providing the Best Stage Production of 2006.

The 2006 State Finals featured the 40 contestants in two lively production numbers. Music from the Black-Eyed Peas “Let’s Get it Started In Here” opened the show.

The Stage included a well-designed set featuring silhouetted illusions screens, elevated runways and high-tech lighting, creating a visual affect that electrified the audience. To close the entire weekend, the moving production number "Reach" has become an annual tradition and features all of the contestants and queens and incorporates professional dancers.

“We have gone from a few balloons and stars as props on stage to a set and production that has caused quite a buzz among our fellow directors,” says Candace Brenner, state director.

Candace Brenner has served as the New Jersey National Teenager State Director for the past 10 years. The heavily credits Mike Hartman Productions for creating her award winning shows.

“I have been blessed to have Mike Hartman Productions choreograph and produce my pageant for the past five years,” says Brenner. “Mike is young and innovative. His eye for detail, creative talents and the ability to think outside of the box has taken my program to a whole new level.”

New level in deed, for the past two years the New Jersey National Teenager has received the "Best State Production Award" from the national organization.

Stage Productions aside, Brenner has been a successful director in other respects.

The 2005 New Jersey Junior National Teenager Jachele Velez won the national title, while the 2005 Senior title holder Brenna Welsh in the top 10. New Jersey Jr 2006 Vladyslava Levchenko and New Jersey Sr 2006 - Cristina Virgilio, crowed at the 2006 Pageant mentioned here, placed in the Top 10 and Top 5, respectively.

The success can be attributed to how Brenner treats her state delegates. State delegates are treated like they have already won the New Jersey titles throughout the three-day pageant weekend. The experience a fantastic performing facility right on the Jersey Shore and a full-scale production company to run the production. She personally makes certain that everything runs smoothly and professionally.

"Brenner has developed one of the most outstanding teen pageantry programs in the Nation," reports Michael Hartman, pageant producer. "Her dedication to the young women of New Jersey is amazing. Each year, her pageant is a highlight for volunteers, contestants and the people impacted by her outstanding program."

Plans are underway for the Spring 2007 pageant, that will showcase the contestants in a top notch set/production with a techno version of "Baby I'm a Star!" And, audience and contestants alike will be certain to experience another wonderful and entertaining evening as two new winners are crowned New Jersey's Junior and Senior Teenager.

The 2007 Best of the Best Nomination Process will begin January 1, 2008 and is open to all pageants.
So, save the pictures of and commentary on your nominees and we'll have some more fun next year!
