It is certainly a sad situation that Miss America and Teen USA are without a TV station interested in televising it, although I have never cared that much about these two pageants.

Guys, we have to face it. Pageants in general are losing interest. Not only in the US but worldwide. Even in countries which have a reputed and renowned national pageant like in France or Spain the ratings are declining. Last week's Miss Spain-pageant had the lowest ratings ever although they always have a wonderful and glamorous show. And even in powerhouse Venezuela, the Miss Venezuela-pageant doesn't have the extremely high ratings it had in the 1990s. The only exception seems to be Switzerland where the national pageant is growing in popularity from year to year.

Miss Universe not finding a host country??? I think the problem is not finding countries which are interested in hosting it but the fee they have to pay is the problem. Many countries would like to host it but not for the amount of money MUO wants to have.

But Miss World has the same problems. Ask them about the problems they had last year in Poland to get their fee from the Polish organizers.
I have the feeling that the only countries willing to pay high amounts in order to host a pageant are China and Russia.

Teen USA and America versus Miss Universe?? There is a big difference. Teen USA and America are national events. You cannot sell the broadcasting rights to other countries. Whereas Miss Universe is international and televised in many countries live or at a delayed date. NBC can earn a lot of money by selling the Miss Universe-program. Furthermore there is a big interest of Telemundo (NBC affiliate) in Miss Universe as the Latin community is still most interested in pageants in general and especially in Miss Universe.

What will happen after 2010??? In case Miss Universe will be dropped by NBC, maybe its affiliate Telemundo will continue broadcasting it.
