Miranda Bradley, a former Miss Humble/Kingwood and Miss Anderson County for the Miss Texas America pageant recently struck a book deal with Smyth and Helwys publishers. Her book, Blessed Are the Jesus Chicks, will hit shelves in February.

The book, her first published work, is meant as a helpful guide for Christian mothers who work outside the home.

"After I became a mom it was hard to know how to strike the balance between serving God, my family and my career," said Bradley. "Every other book out there was telling me how to stay home when what I really needed was practical advice for my situation as a working mother."

Bradley said she felt led to write the book, but wasn't so sure it would get published.

"Writing a book is hard enough, but getting it published is another thing entirely," she said. "It's not an easy process. But, I really believe God had his hand on this the entire time. I'm just very thankful and thrilled to see it all come to fruition."

Bradley holds a journalism degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and was the Communications Manager for Children At Heart Ministries for seven years. She recently left her position after the birth of her second son to launch her own copy writing business, BCreative. Now, she works as a freelancer for a number of nonprofits and small businesses, including Children At Heart.

She said she wants this book to inspire women to feel good about their choices.

"Women, especially mothers, put way too much pressure on themselves," she said. "My hope is that women will read this book and realize that, not only does God support your working-mom status, but He has appointed you to that position, just as He did with women throughout the Bible."

Bradley is planning several speaking engagements and appearances to promote the book. If you would like to learn more about Blessed Are the Jesus Chicks or would like to order an advanced copy, you may log on to http://www.helwys.com/books/jesus_chicks.html.
