2010 Miss Earth Nicole Faria Dec. 4, 2010
The Miss Earth pageant took place in Nha Trang, Vietnam on December 4, 2010. Final Results A 20-year-old fashion model from Bangalore, India was crowned Miss Earth 2010 in the televised pageant held at Vinpearl Land in Nha Trang, Vietnam Saturday night. Miss India Nicole Faria bested 83 other contestants in the 10th edition of the international beauty pageant which focuses on care and preservation of the environment. She was crowned by Miss Earth 2009 Larissa Ramos of Brazil. Earlier, Faria won Miss Talent when she performed a graceful belly dance that combined Oriental and Middle Eastern styles. She is also set to enter show business as part of her prizes in winning Femina Miss Earth India 2010. It was the first time that the Miss Earth contest was held outside the Philippines. Organizers said that the beauty pageant will be held in Vietnam in the next 10 years, on an alternate basis. Miss Air (1st runner-up) was Miss Ecuador Jennifer Pazmino, followed by Miss Water (2nd runner-up), Miss Thailand Watsaporn Wattanakoon, and Miss Fire (3rd runner-up), Miss Puerto Rico Yeidy Bosques. Rounding out the top seven were: Miss Japan Marina Kishira; Miss South Africa Nondyebo Dzingwa; and Miss Venezuela Mariángela Bonanni. The remaining semifinalists were: Miss Czech Republic Carmen Justová; Miss Italy Ilenia Arnolfo; Miss Netherlands Desiree van den Berg; Miss Russia Viktoria Shchukina; Miss Ukraine Valentina Zhytnyk; Miss USA Danielle Bounds; and Miss Vietnam Lưu Thị Diễm Hương. More Special Awards The Miss Photogenic award goes to Miss Thailand, Watsaporn Wattanakoon, and the Miss Congeniality award went to Miss Guatemala, Sue Ellen Castaneda, chosen by her fellow contestants. Best Swimsuit Miss Vietnam, Diem Huong, won the "Best in Swimsuit" award during the annual Miss Earth swimsuit show held at Phu Yen on Saturday. Huong, the host contestant, won a cash award of US 5,000.00 and jewelry from PNJ. Best in Evening Gown and Best in Ao Dai Two other special prizes were awarded tonight during a fashion gala held in Nha Trang. Miss Serbia Tijana Rakic was chosen Best in Ao Dai. The top 5 included Miss Chinese Taipei Liu Hsing Jung, Miss Korea Lee Gui Joo, Miss Nicaragua Junieth Rosales, and Miss Philippines Kris Psyche Resus. Miss Ecuador Jennifer Pazmiño won the Best in Evening Gown Award. Her top five included Miss Brazil Luisa Lopes, Miss Czech Republic Carmen Justova, Miss Thailand Watsaporn Wattanakoon, and Miss Venezuela Mariangela Bonanni. Meanwhile, the organising board of Miss Earth 2010 has decided to donate nearly VND2 billion (US$100,000) to the flood victims of the central provinces, including Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, and Quang Nam. Contest representatives gave VND300 million ($15,300) to flood victims. The rest will be given during other gala nights held in Nha Trang, Phu Yen and Quang Nam. Best National Costume Miss Japan was declared winner of the Best National Costume, event held in Phan Thiet on Saturday. The top 4 ladies were the contestants from Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and Ecuador. Talent Show The Miss Earth talent competition took place in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday. 18 candidates registered to participate. They were Misses Japan, Jamaica, Italy, Guatemala, Singapore, Brazil, England, Ireland, Guyana, India, Thailand, Botswana, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Guam, South Africa, Tonga, Crimea and the host Vietnam. After a series of performances, the Top 5 was announced: India, Crimea, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam. The winner of the Talent competition was Miss India, Nicole Faria.
