2010 Miss USA
Rima Fakih
2010 Miss USA
May. 16, 2010
Click here for pictures of the event! Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton was on hand to crown her successor on May 16, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
Rima Fakih knew she had won the 2010 Miss USA title when she saw the look on Donald Trump's face: It was the same one she'd seen him flash at the winners of "The Apprentice."
The 24-year-old Lebanese immigrant — Miss Michigan USA to the judges — beat out 50 other women to take the title Sunday night, despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.
She told reporters later that she believed she had won after glancing at pageant owner Trump as she awaited the results with the first runner-up, Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard.
"That's the same look that he gives them when he says, 'You're hired,'" on Trump's reality show, she said.
Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey was the second runner-up, Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman was third runner-up, and Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier was the fourth runner-up.
Most of the field of contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia were eliminated just after the pageant began and the entire group danced onstage to "TiK ToK" by Ke$ha.
The top fifteen who competed in swimsuit were: Adrielle Churchill, Miss Arkansas USA; Bethany Gerber, Miss Kansas USA; Rima Fakih, Miss Michigan USA; Claire Schreiner, Miss Wyoming USA; Gina Cerilli, Miss Pennsylvania USA; Nicole Michele Johnson, Miss California USA; Jessica Hartman, Miss Colorado USA; Tucker Perry, Miss Tennessee USA; Morgan Elizabeth Woolard, Miss Oklahoma USA; Ashley Strohmier, Miss Missouri USA; Audrey Moore, Miss Alabama USA; Belinda Wright, Miss Nebraska USA; Samantha Casey, Miss Virginia USA; Breanne Ponder, Miss Mississippi USA; and Katie Whittier, Miss Maine USA.
Competing in evening gown were the top ten: The women remaining in the competition were: Miss Michigan USA Rima Fakih, Miss California USA Nicole Michele Johnson, Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman, Miss Tennessee USA Tucker Perry, Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard, Miss Missouri USA Ashley Strohmier, Miss Alabama USA Audrey Moore, Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey, Miss Mississippi USA Courtney Breanne Ponder and Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier.
Miss Nebraska USA Belinda Renee Wright won the Miss Congeniality award, roughly one week after her father was killed in a farm accident. Miss Alabama USA Audrey Moore won Miss Photogenic after an online fan vote.
A panel of eight judges, included NBA star Carmelo Anthony; Treasure Island casino-hotel owner Phil Ruffin; Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir; International jetsetter, model and entrepreneur, Melania Trump; best known for playing Oscar Martinez on NBC’s "The Office," Oscar Nunez; the quintessential American success story, a best-selling author, a television show host and a tastemaker to the stars and to the everyday housewife and family, Paula Deen; Executive Fashion Editor at Large of GLAMOUR magazine, Suze Yalof Schwartz; and Miss USA 2006 / actress Tara Conner.
The MC's for the event were: Curtis Stone, a master chef, best-selling author, TV host, entrepreneur, and top four on this year's Celebrity Apprentice; and Natalie Morales who joined the "Today" show as a National Correspondent in February 2006 and was named Co-Host of the third hour in March 2008. Morales also serves as a National Correspondent for all NBC News platforms including "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," "Dateline NBC," and MSNBC.
Covering the backstage activities were Joan and Melissa Rivers. Entertainment for the evening were Trace Adkins and Boys Like Girls. More information about Rima Fakih
