The 2006 Miss Teen USA pageant was held August 15th, 2006 in Palm Springs, California at the Palm Springs Convention Center. It was again be broadcast LIVE on NBC!

An 18-year-old from Montana has been crowned Miss Teen USA 2006. Katie Blair beat the competition in swimsuit, evening gown and interview categories to claim the crown Tuesday night. Blair succeeds Miss Teen USA 2005, Allie LaForce of Ohio. Winnings include a scholarship to New York School of Film and Television, a year of living in Trump Tower, a wardrobe and a Mikimoto tiara. Katie's win also brought an end to a 23 year string of not even a semifinalist for the state of Montana. Not only did they finally place, but she won the who thing.

"I think it's fabulous that she won, competed well and had the confidence to do this," Leslie Blair, her aunt, told the Billings Gazette.

Miss North Carolina Teen USA Melissa Lingafelt was named first runner-up, and Miss North Dakota Teen USA Katie Marie Cooper was second runner-up. Samantha Casey, Miss Virginia Teen USA; was third runner-up; and Brittany Sharp, Miss Georgia Teen USA, was fourth runner-up;

Rounding out the top 10 were Shaelyn McNally, Miss Rhode Island Teem ISA; Juliana White, Miss New Jersey Teen USA; Gentry Linn Miller, Miss Kansas Teen USA; Jamie O'Brien, Miss Maryland Teen USA; and Emerald Zellers, Miss Arizona Teen USA.

Also making the top fifteen were: Miss Nebraska Teen USA Danielle Zuroski, Miss Michigan Teen USA Raquel McClendon, Miss Oklahoma Teen USA Morgan Woolard, Miss South Carolina Teen USA Brittany Smith, and Miss Florida Teen USA Jennifer Wooten.

MTV VJ/Host of TRL Damien Fahey co-hosted with Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson live from the Palm Springs Convention Center. Former "O-Town member Ashley Parker Angel, pop star JoJo and Lucas Grabeel of the hit Disney Channel original movie High School Musical all performed during the live telecast.

The celebrity judging panel for Miss Teen USA 2006 included: Princes of Malibu star Brody Jenner, Chelsi Smith, Miss Universe 1995, Days of Our Lives star Darin Brooks, President and Founder of YMI Jeans David Vered, Nickelodeon star of Drake & Josh, Drake Bell, Melissa Rivers, Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Lewis, Heroes' star Hayden Panettiere, Deal or No Deal's Anya Monzikova, and Teen Cosmo's Editor-in-Chief Susan Schultz.

Melissa Lingafelt, Miss North Carolina Teen USA. The general public voted on www.nbc.com for the delegate who exemplifies beauty through the lens of a camera.

Blair Griffith, Miss Colorado Teen USA. The award reflects the respect and admiration of the delegateís peers, who voted for her as the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational participant.

Katie, the daughter of John Blair of Billings and Cindy Silverstein of Houston, succeeds Miss Teen USA 2005, Allie LaForce of Ohio. Blair is a 2006 graduate of Billings West High School, which she began attending as a sophomore after moving to Billings from Houston, said her aunt, Leslie Blair of Billings.

Blair was Billings West prom queen in 2006 and was voted "most likely to star in a sitcom" by her classmates, according to the Miss Teen USA Web site. She said she plans to pursue degrees in advertising, marketing and fashion design. Blair had planned to attend Louisiana State University. For the next year, she will live in New York City and work for Donald Trump, who owns the pageant, while serving her term as Miss Teen USA.
