Susie Castillo The Miss USA System is a beauty pageant for women aged 17 to 26. The women compete in 3 phases of competition which include: Personal Interview 33%, Evening Wear 33% and Swimwear 33%. This Miss USA system is the offical preliminary to the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss USA system also had its roots in the Miss America system. When a Miss America title holder refused to wear her sponsor's swimsuit after winning her title, Catalina Swimwear backed out of the Miss America pageant and started the Miss USA pageant.
