Miss Earth East Coast joins the relief effort in Burma!

Carleen Ramlochansingh, Miss Earth Trinidad & Tobago and Amaris Acosta, Miss Caraibes Hibiscus United States, in association with Step Up Pageants International are reaching out to the International community to assist with relief efforts in Burma.

The cyclone most devastatingly affected the area of Mayanmar, one of the 20 poorest regions in the world, displacing over 2 Million people with an unconfirmed toll of 100,000 lives. With much of the region cut off from clean water, many more lives may be lost due to the spread of infection.

In light of the recent tragedy, Step Up Pageants International, producers of the Miss Earth East Coast and Miss Earth Trinidad & Tobago Pageants, are dedicating this year's competition to the aid of relief efforts in the region. A portion of this years ticket sales, combined with the fundraising efforts of the delegates themselves, will go directly to assist relief efforts in Myanmar- with an emphasis on providing clean water to the area, which will help prevent the spread of disease. Any business wishing to assist can go to http://stepuppageants.tripod.com and follow the "Cyclone Relief" link.

MISS EARTH ELIMINATES AGRESSIVE FINNISH GIRL

1/3 of this year´s Miss Earth delegates are leaving for Vietnam to spend there four days taking part in various events and activities. Miss Finland Anna Pohtimo will not attend these, as she was asked to leave the pageant reason being her bad and agressive behaviour.

The Czech delegate Eva Čerešňáková says: We all are exhausted but the girls are superb, so we are having much fun. The Finnish girl was weird, everyone thought so. She was proud, wearing her nose up all the time, lazy, never co-operated. She refused to attend most of the activities and even attacked Miss Bahamas and hurt her face. After that she was kicked out."

Teen Earth being added

After another exciting event that received rave reviews, and after many requests, Earth Pageant Productions, organizers of the United States MISS EARTH pageant, have announced that they have been given permission to add a Teen division to their very successful program.

Kalispell beauty queen in ‘Survivor: China’ cast

Former Kalispell resident Amanda Kimmel — crowned Miss Earth US in 2005 — will be one of 16 contestants on the upcoming television season of “Survivor.”  This is the competition’s 15th season and is set in China. The season begins airing on Sept. 20.

Kimmel, 23, a hiking guide and model, recently moved from Kalispell to Los Angeles to live with her sister, Katrina, according to CBS’s “Survivor: China” Web site.

In addition to her Miss Montana USA experience, she competed in the Miss Earth and the China-based Miss Kite Of The World pageants. Kimmel graduated from Billings West High School in 2003, according to one Web biography. She began working as a model at 16 in Chicago, staying there for one year.

Kimmel describes her self as motivated, competitive and determined. She has camped every weekend in Montana since she was 3 years old. She tries to never to leave home without her cowboy boots.

Kimmel will be in the Fei Long, or “Flying Dragon” tribe of eight people who will initially compete with the eight members of the Zhan Hue, or “Fighting Tiger” tribe, which also has a 28-year-old beauty queen, Ashley Massaro, from East Northport, N.Y.  The two teams will live on separate islands in China’s Zhelin Lake in the Jiangxi province.

In keeping with this contest’s China theme, all 16 players were given copies of Sun Tzu’s “The Art Of War,” the ancient Chinese military strategy text.
