United States to send delegate to World Miss University

Earth Pageant Productions and the United States Earth pageants are very excited to inform you that in addition to crowning Miss Earth United States and Miss Teen Earth United States for 2011, another articulate, beautiful and amazing young woman will be chosen to the represent the USA at the World Miss University pageant. The winner will be chosen based on the pageant competition and will be awarded to the young lady who scores the highest number of points, outside of the national titles, and meets the following criteria:

* Must be a student in good standing of a university and/or college of the country she will represent
* Must have good moral character and possess poise , charm, personality and beauty of face and figure as well as good communication skills
* Must show interest and/or experience in doing volunteer work for cause of world peace
* Must posses a valid passport upon arrival at the national pageant
* At least 17 years of age and have not turned 25

Delegate will receive round trip airfare to location of pageant(scheduled for China), assistance with evening gown and national costume and cash award for incidentals while at the World Miss University pageant. In addition, she will receive her official crown and banner, photo shoot and various gifts and prizes. She could be you!

Deaf Miss Texas Hit By Train

Miss Deaf Texas 2005 Tara Rose McAvoy, 18, was walking Monday March 13, 2006, near railroad tracks when she was struck by a Union Pacific train, authorities said. A witness told Austin television station KTBC the train sounded its horn right up until the accident occurred.

McAvoy, who had been deaf since birth, won the state title in June and represented the state "with dignity and pride," state pageant director Laura Loeb-Hill told The Associated Press. McAvoy was to represent Texas at the Miss Deaf America pageant this summer, Loeb-Hill said.

McAvoy graduated last year from the Texas School for the Deaf, attended Austin Community College and then started at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., in January, but had returned to Texas, Loeb-Hill said.

Southeast Threshers Queen

Allison Cody has been crowned queen of the 33rd annual Southeast Old Threshers Reunion Festival. The pageant was slightly delayed due to rain as it is held in the outdoor Music Hall which has also played host to many well-known country music acts. Allison also won the Interview and Casual Wear competition. First runner-up was Candace Morris with second runner-up going to Dana Yates who in addition was voted Miss Photogenic and the Opening Costume winner. Julie Glover and Jennifer Gregson were among the five finalists. Other contestants were Amber Brown, Becci Clippinger, Carrie Crouse, Kelly Hurst, and Emily Smith. Outgoing 2002 SE Thresher's Queen Amy Whitmer was on hand to crown her successor.
