S.H.I.N.E. (Sisters Helping In a New Era)
What is S.H.I.N.E. you may ask? S.H.I.N.E. is a program for immediate needs; it helps bring together respected pageant title holders, to actively pursue helping the nation’s communities through unconventional means. Today, right now, we are here to change things for others. We will change things right now. Miranda Sergent, Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen is the Founder and President of this newly established organization. This sorority helps to show the world the true meaning of sisterhood and working as a team for a common goal. One person can make a difference, but a group can change the world. This group has been extremely busy already, we’ve helped with the following:
- April 20th The Backpack Ministry-Southland Christian Church, supplies had been completely depleted. S.H.I.N.E. raised over $300 worth in food plus gift cards.
- May 1st The National Guard Platoons from Morehead, Maysville, and Louisville Kentucky are headed to training camp in Mississippi. They had an immediate need for medical supplies. Along with the help of health care facilities the S.H.I.N.E. Sorority raised over $750 dollars, to purchase needed supplies. Platoon Staff Sergeant Tim Smith was overwhelmed with the support.
- May 6th Cinderella’s Closet-S.H.I.N.E. Sisters gathered 20 dresses, to be delivered to Dunbar High School in Lexington, KY on May 16th.
