"Miss America: Behind the Curtain" special on The Learning Channel (TLC) tonight, Friday, Jan. 29th at 9 and 11 pm central time with repeat airing at 6 pm Saturday night right before the live pageant telecast at 7 pm with reairs of the pageant telecast at 11 pm Saturday night and at
noon on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010.
Miss America Judges Announced

The 2010 Miss America Pageant promises to be an exciting event with the announcement of the strikingly diverse panel of national judges. This year's panel of seven esteemed judges includes a Miss America turned opera singer and philanthropist; an accomplished actress; an Olympic gold medalist; a six-time Grammy nominee; the most listened-to radio talk show host in America; a successful comedian, and an American Idol finalist.
From the Field of Beauty - Vivica A. Fox – Fox is an accomplished actress and producer that has appeared on both the small and big screens in every type of genre. She is currently the host of the new reality series, "The Cougar,” and returned for the 2009 season of Larry David's HBO hit comedy, Curb Your Enthusiasm as the feisty "Loretta Black.”
From the Field of Community Service - Miss America 2002 Katie Harman – Since her year, Harman tours nationally and internationally as an acclaimed classical and operatic vocalist with a myriad of opera and musical theater companies, symphony orchestras, and special events.
From the Field of Fitness - Shawn Johnson – Johnson is an 2008 Olympic gold medalist for gymnastics. She was named the 79th Amateur Athletic Union Sullivan Award recipient, one of the most prestigious honors in amateur sports and became the youngest ever contestant and season eight champion on ABC's Dancing with the Stars.
From the Field of Talent – Dave Koz - Koz is a six-time Grammy nominee, multi platinum pop instrumentalist. Recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Koz hosts an afternoon radio show that's nationally distributed on the Smooth Jazz Radio Network as well as the syndicated Dave Koz Radio Show, now in its 15th year and airing on weekends in approximately 120 markets.
From the Field of Communications/Interview - Rush Limbaugh - Limbaugh is the outspoken, conservative and ultra-popular host of The Rush Limbaugh Show, an AM/FM radio show about American politics with an audience of 20 million.
From the Field of Entertainment – Paul Rodriguez – Rodriguez is an actor and comedian whose career spans more than two decades and includes starring roles and featured appearances in over 40 films and countless television series and specials.
rom the Field of Creating America's Rising Talent – Brooke White – White is a singer and songwriter who is most known for her appearance as a finalist on season seven of American Idol. She recently released her debut album, High Hopes & Heartbreak, in which she shares with the world, her love for the music that has shaped her.
Host Named For 2010 Miss America Pageant
The Miss America Organization and TLC announced today that Mario Lopez will return as host of the 2010 Miss America Pageant when it is broadcast live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 30 at 8 PM ET. This marks his second consecutive year hosting the event, and his third time total for Miss America.
“I look forward to taking the stage again in January and helping crown the next Miss America,” said Lopez. “It's great to be associated with such a respected and relevant organization, and TLC has turned the pageant into a must-watch event.”
Wedding Bells to Ring in Virginia
Glenn and Deborah Glakas of Centreville announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristi Lauren Glakas, to Andrew Frazier Ingram, son of George Ingram, IV of Washington, D.C., and Claudia Weicker, former First Lady of Connecticut, of Old Lyme, Conn. and Charlottesville, Va.
Ms. Glakas graduated from the University of Virginia in 2008. She is pursuing her second bachelor’s degree in nursing at U.Va., along with a master of health science in Global Health at George Mason University. She was Miss Virginia 2005 and the 3rd Runner-Up to Miss America 2006. She is Virginia's only triple winner as she was Miss Virginia USA 2004 and Miss Virginia Teen USA '99.
Mr. Ingram graduated from Trinity College of Hartford, Conn., and from the University of Virginia in 2008 with a master of urban and environmental planning. He was a field organizer for the Obama campaign, and is currently a project manager for Northrop Grumman in Washington, D.C.
A June 2010 wedding is planned in Charlottesville, Va. at the home of Governor and Mrs. Lowell Weicker, Jr.
MAO Announces addition of Puerto Rico

Art McMaster, President and CEO of the Miss America Organization, and Miss America 2009 Katie Stam were welcomed to Puerto Rico today by Joselo Sostre, Executive State Director of the Miss Puerto Rico Scholarship Program, along with his newly appointed staff at a press conference in San Juan. They were greeted by media outlets that included magazines, newspapers and television outlets who covered The Miss America Press Conference.
Art surprised the media with his bilingual welcome, and was pleased to announce the January 30, 2010 Pageant date on TLC live from Planet Hollywood. The press conference was also highlighted by having the very first Miss Puerto Rico participate, Miss Puerto Rico 1948, Irma Nydia Velazquez- marking her 60th anniversary!
Irma was so proud to welcome back the Miss America Program to Puerto Rico and spoke on how important it is for young women in Puerto Rico to have a pageant like Miss America, with core values that focuses on education. She is so very proud of the title she earned nearly 60 years ago and was thrilled to be a part of this historic event for the Organization.
Katie will return to Puerto Rico for the July 31 Miss Puerto Rico Pageant and crown the 2009 winner who will compete for Miss America in January 2010!
