Former Mrs. Sugarland passes in Texas

Former Mrs. Sugarland 2003 (and 4th ru to Mrs. Texas 03) Melissa Seyer, died on January 3, 2008 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She lived everyday to the utmost without ever slowing down. Melissa had myriad interests and talents. She was a devoted wife and mother.  She loved modeling, dancing, skiing, horseback riding and international travel. Melissa lived a life of fashion and glamour and was truly a unique and extraordinary woman.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, John F. Seyer; her sons, Sean Cody Gentry, John William and James Edward Seyer; her mother, Ann Curry and husband J.R. of Angleton; her father, James Rabb and wife Bernice; her sister, Jamie Beshoory and husband Richard; her grandparents, Robert and Frances Richey of Bonney, TX; and a niece, 4 nephews and other loving relatives and friends. She is also survived by her loved animals, two dogs, a cat and a horse.

It was Melissa's wish to have her cremated remains scattered over Acapulco Bay, her favorite place. A celebration of Melissa's life was held on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Memorial contributions may be made in Melissa's honor to Shrine Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 20625, Houston, TX 77225.

Mrs. America 98 Named New Mrs. Florida Director

Mrs. America 1998, Renee' Cairns has been named the new director for the Mrs. Florida America Pageant.  Almost 10 years to the date of her winning the state and national title, Renee' is named director of the state she represented in the 1998 Mrs. America Pageant. 

A native of Florida, Renee' couldn't be more excited to be directing the Mrs. Florida America Pageant.  With over 15 years of experience producing special events, along with her experience as a contestant, state titleholder and national winner, Renee' feels more than prepared to handle this new venture."

Mrs. Tennessee bitten by rattlesnake at national pageant

Mrs. Tennessee 2007, Christina Ryan was bitten by a rattlesnake on her way to Mrs. America rehearsals at the Loew's resort Sunday morning.

She was walking down a set of steps and the snake was coiled up at the bottom of the steps. Another contestant who is a nurse, pulled a fang from her foot and 911 was called. EMT's responded within 4 minutes and she was admitted to Tucson Medical Center's ICU overnight. 

and mHer vital signs are excellent, she has been given anti-venom treatmentsedication for pain. She has experienced a lot of pain, but is in good spirits.  Her family was notified immediately, and everyone is FINE.  Her prognosis is excellent, and we are hoping that she will be up and about in a few days.

Mrs. Mississippi, Carol Gibson rode with Christina in the ambulance and is by her side for support.

Mrs. RI America Passes

Mrs. Rhode Island America 1966, Carmela (Connie) Iacoucci passed away June 6, 2007, joining her husband you passed away June 17, 2006.

Connie Iacoucci is the mother of Connie Wallace, American Queen Pageant National Director. 

Connie says, "She was the inspiration for The American Queen Pageant.  Her goodness and inner beauty live on through all of the American Queen Title Holders, and we would like to honor her"

We send our condolences and support to Connie and her family.

New State Director Named

The Mrs. Maine and Mrs. New Hampshire America Pageants are under the new directorship of former Mrs. New Hampshire America 2005 Maggie DeSantis.

The Maine pageant is scheduled for May 26 in South Portland, ME.The New Hampshire pageant is schedules for June 3 in Nashua, NH.
