Mrs. Little Rock Intl '08 passes
Submitted by: Bernee Thurow, Ark Exec Director
We lost one of our pageant members last week to her battle with cancer. Tamitha Gulley, Mrs. Little Rock International 2008,had competed in the International system since 2003. She always placed in the top five and worked hard every year to improve. She wanted to be Mrs. Arkansas Intl and had dedicated the past five years to making her dream come true.
We will miss her smile and laughter as we move forward to the 2009 competition. She was a strong person and promoted adding Fine Arts to Schools as her platform. Her husband Victor Gulley served in Iraq and was always proud of her accomplishments.
She leaves behind two daughters, Victoria, 17, Miss Teen Little Rock Intl 2009 and Samantha, 6. Please join us in support of this family. Our pageant family will miss her talents and friendship.

A mother of four, Patti Mercer will represent South Carolina in the upcoming Mrs. International Pageant July 18-19, 2008 in Chicago to promote Autism awareness and the importance of early intervention.

Mrs. Oklahoma Intl '07 honored by Senate
An extraordinary Walters woman was honored by the Senate Monday for her outstanding accomplishments and contributions to her community. Senator Don Barrington presented Brooke Good with a proclamation congratulating her on her selection as Mrs. Oklahoma 2007 and commending her on her efforts to help children overcome the nightmare of sexual child abuse. A victim of sexual child abuse herself, Good has spent her year as Mrs. Oklahoma speaking to other children in the same circumstances giving them the understanding that they can go on and learn to dream again. Good spends time with the girls at the Marie Detty Girls home in Lawton and has also participated in a Mothers Against Sexual Abuse rally on the steps of the capitol last fall. A Walters resident, Good is married to Teddy Good and the couple have two sons Corbin (2) and Ian (1). Good, who was crowned on Mother's Day weekend of 2007, will return to Stillwater this Mother's Day weekend to crown a new Mrs. Oklahoma. "I will forever be thankful for this amazing year and journey as Mrs. Oklahoma," says Good.
Mrs. Cleburne County, International Educating Young People About Predators
Carol Johnson, Mrs. Cleburne County, represents Protect, a divsion of the National Association to Protect our Children. She began by starting a local chapter of the organization after a scare that her child was in danger. That local chapter became very active, and many other groups have formed across Arkansas because of Carol's efforts. She also recently traveled to the National Association to educate herself further; she wanted a better understanding of the laws enforced upon convicted predators. Since then, Carol has lobbied for stricter punishments and worked with apprehension programs to stop predators. With over 800,000 young people's lives being solicited by predators, Carol knows that education is the key to stopping this criminal action. Join Carol and her efforts of Protecting young people, and root her on in obtaining the position of Mrs. Arkansas, International to increase the exposure of this critical issue.
