Mrs. Utah To Donate To Abused Women And Children
Submitted by: Jen Watkins
As part of its goal to serve as a role model for the community, the Mrs. Utah United States organization is donating $100 to the Washington County Children’s Justice Center and the D.O.V.E. Center for each contestant that signs up for this year’s pageant.
Mrs. Utah United States Director Jen Watkins said the purpose of the pageant is not to focus on women’s outer beauty, but to give women the opportunity to serve as role models for their family and community by promoting their personal platform.
Watkins chose the Washington County CJC and the D.O.V.E. Center as the organization’s platform for this year as a way to give back to the local community where the pageant will be held this year.
The pageant is being held in St. George at Dixie State College on May 14 and is being directed and run by Sentric Media. Applications are being accepted until April 15 for married women, 21 and older, who reside in Utah.
Watkins said she is excited about the pageant this year, not only because it is being held in sunny Southern Utah, but because the contestants singing up thus far have “so much passion for their lives, their families and their platforms. We have truly incredibly women coming forward and each one has a unique story,” she said.
The Mrs. Utah United States pageant is judged in 4 different categories. Private Interview, Swimsuit, Evening Gown, and additional points added for the on–stage question for the top 10 finalists.
“The judges understand that being a wife is already a tremendous role in your home and community,” according to the website. “They will be looking for a woman who demonstrates dedication in her personal life and has a desire to improve her community through her personal platform. As each woman and platform is unique, the judges will look at who implements those qualities most effectively.”

Florida United States pageant rapidly approaching
Submitted by: Pam Bolter, Exec Director
The Florida United States pageants are rapidly approaching. With competitions for women of all age groups, from 12-65, they celebrate beauty and accomplishments of women of all ages.
“Delegates have their choice of wearing a one or two piece swimsuit, and will utilize a sarong during this portion of the competition. With a conservative swimsuit and sarong combination, it’s almost as if the contestant is wearing a sundress, but it gives the judges a chance to score on physical fitness" states Executive Director, Pam Bolter. “There is no talent or previous pageant experience required; just the commitment to community and making our world a better place to live!”
The State Pageant will take place April 25 at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center. State Delegates will arrive Friday, April 23rd for a fun-filled weekend of entertainment and competition. The stage competition, which is open to the public, begins at 4:00 on Sunday, April 25th. Attendees will watch and cheer for the delegates competing for the titles of: Mrs. Florida, Ms. Florida, Miss Florida, Miss Teen Florida and Miss Florida Jr. Teen United States. Delegates will compete on stage in Swimsuit, Evening Gown and an on-stage Q&A. Private interviews are held on Saturday with a panel of seven judges. Each phase of competition is worth 25% and “Olympic style balloting” will be used in tabulating the scores.
All State Queens will advance to their respective national competitions, in Las Vegas in July, where Mrs. Florida will compete in the 24th anniversary pageant of the Mrs. United States system. More than $150,000 in prizes will be awarded to the new queens and state delegates.
Mrs. Bolter stated “We are so very proud that our pageant has been named “The Pageant with a Purpose!” Our delegates are more than just pretty faces. To date we have raised more than $40,000 for charitable organizations and plan to continue this commitment for many years.”
