Click here for pictures of the event! Congratulations to Miss Georgia Amanda Kozak for being the second runner up at the recent Miss America pageant. She was also a Quality of Life award finalist. The 62nd Annual Miss Georgia Pageant was held in Columbus, Georgia. The state of Georgia has the distinction of being the "longest consecutive running state pageant" in the Miss America system. After finishing as first runner up last year, Amanda Kozak, Miss Valdosta, a veteran swimsuit and evening gown winner earlier in the week, won the Miss Georgia 2006 title. She was the Overall Winner of the W.C. Webb Evening Gown Award for the pageant. Amanda, a graduate of Valdosta State University, was set to start work at Russell Elementary School in Warner Robins, Georgia (as a third grade teacher) on June 27, 2006. Now that she is Miss Georgia, she will move to Columbus and spend the next year promoting her platform which is mentoring with the Big Brother, Big Sister Organization of America. She also will represent Georgia in the Miss America Pageant. Amanda is a dancer. This was her 3rd try for the crown, she was Top 11 in '04. She was also first runner up last year at the National Sweetheart pageant. "I can't believe I'm here representing the state that is not my hometown but I'm glad to be in Georgia," said Kozak, a native of Missouri. She has lived in Georgia for the last 12 years. The first runner up and a veteran swimsuit and talent winner was Miss Capital City, Kelly Bradshaw. Kelly was the Overall Winner of the New Life Fitness Swimwear Award. She is a Georgia Tech University cheerleader, just finishing her first year. She played a violin. Her platform is Mentoring. The third runner up and a veteran swimsuit and talent prelim winner was Miss Onion Capital, Devan Fleming. She is a Columbus State University student and is a vocalist. Her platform concerns Court Appointed Special Advocates. She had been a semi-finalist the last two years. Rounding out the top five as fourth runner up was, another college freshman and newcomer to the Miss Georgia stage, Miss Southeast Georgia Caitlyn Andrews. Caitlyn captured the Overall Talent Award, for her opera presentation.
