Turn For The Judges stays on top of the pageant news happening throughout the world because of the contributions of many people. To be apart of our officially recognized team, look over the following positions and then let us know how you can help.

TFTJ Contributors

TFTJ Correspondents voluntarily bring you the best and most accurate news from across the pageant world. They are the "Eyes and Ears" of TFTJ.

Contributors find and verify content for our website including photo gallery pictures, delegate information, pageant event coverage, and submit ideas for features, training articles, and editorials. Contributors don't necessarily write any articles for TFTJ or TFTJ Cafe, but they do find information that the pageant community needs to know.

TFTJ Contributors are listed in our Staff Roster by name only.

TFTJ Correspondents

Correspondents do more than just find bits of information about the pageant world, they bring you pageant coverage, training articles, feature special events and persons in the pageant community.

When Correspondents cover a pageant story, they cover the WHOLE story.

• When writing a Pageant Event Article - They find out
  • Find out the names of all the girls in the pageant.
  • Learn as much as possible about the all contestants competiting: age, school/major, talent/song, platform, hair color, eye color, etc.
  • Special Award Winners
  • What did the winner wear?
  • Who made the funniest comments in the question/answer section.
  • Who were the emcees?
  • Describe the stage production
  • And obtain quotes from directors, contestants, volunteers, and/or winners.
  • The obtain plenty of pictures to help those not at a pageant feel like they were there. (If there is an official photographer from the event taking pictures, the Correspondents makes arrangements for the photographer to provide pictures for the article.)

Correspondents are also asked to submit a feature or training article quartlery. Correspondents are invited to write these articles, or arrange for them to be written by experts on a particular topic. Correspondents are often surprised at how quickly an article can come together when they ask the right people.

Features, Editorials, and Training Articles range from:

• Spotlighting any person in the pageanty community that has a compelling story to share
• Celebrating a delegate/queen's community service / activism
• Interviewing a contestant to help us 'Gear Up' for a major pageant.
• Providing publicity for a fantastic pageant that others should participate in, and why!!!!
• Discussing trends in pageantry and where they started
• Training specifically for Teen, Miss, Mrs, Ms, Plus, Classic, Ethnic, etc contestants.
  • Selecting your pageant
  • Wardrobe Slections
  • Taking and choosing a picture
  • How to model
  • Choosing a platform, etc.
• Training specifically for Directors:
  • How to gain publicity in non-pageant circuits
  • How to find reliable volunteers
  • Legal issues to be aware of
  • How to find sponsors/prizes
  • How to deal with a difficult queen
  • How to negotiate for a fabulous venue/hotel that won't break the budget
  • When on a budget- what elements should you not cut corners
  • How to write a press release and then where to send them
  • How to network to provide appearance opportunities for winners
• And the source for Editorials are endless. Editorials are brief articles that celebrate or constructively criticize something in the pageant circuit.

TFTJ Contributors have their articles published in the TFTJ Cafe. They also have their pictures and biographies posted on our Staff Roster. And Contributors can earn TFTJ Cafe membership and TFTJ Merchandise based on the amount of published contributions they provide.
